The blue styrofoam plank was given by an artist, Shirley Tse, and it was part of one of her old sculptures carved with a handheld router. I traced Tse’s marks onto the wood plank to imitate her sculpting gestures. This process honors Tse's artistic labor and the labor history in Hong Kong that she refers to
